Obverse
The obverse side of Republic of Chad Big Five Shaped 1 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of the Big Five animals in silhouette. Inscribed below this visual you will see the words AFRICA BIG FIVE. Below this we see a Coat of Arms. To its left are the words REPUBLIQUE DU CHAD 2022. On the other side reads 5000 FRANCS CFA. Below this is the inscription 1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER, followed by the serial number.
Reverse
On the reverse field of the 2022 Antique Big Five Shaped 1 oz Silver Coin is a collage of the Big Five laid out across the African continent. Taking up the most space is the rhino, which occupies the lower portion of the continent. In the middle we see the elephant looking east with its tusks protruding outward. Lastly, the lion, leopard, and buffalo are all grouped together at the top in detailed close-ups.
History
In the past, hunters used the term The Big Five to describe Africas most dangerous and difficult animals to catch. When you see these creatures, this comes as no surprise. The elephant is the
largest and heaviest animal on the planet. Lions are undoubtedly the most feared and royal creatures of sub-Sahara. The leopard is known for its speed and its climbing abilities. Cape buffalos have formidable horns and fierce tempers. Finally, the rhino is an ancient and revered creature at risk of extinction.
