Highlights:
At its core, St. Patricks Day is known as the Feast of Saint Patrick and is a religious holiday that honors St. Patricks role in bringing Christianity to Ireland. Today, he is remembered as the primary Patron Saint of Ireland. Historically, the Christian festivals marking St. Patricks Day included a one-day end to Lent restrictions on eating and consuming alcohol.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2022 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is a depiction known as Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 for the US Mint, Adolph A. Weinman created this full-length effigy of Liberty in left-profile relief to show her figure walking toward the sun on the horizon. She is draped in the American flag with her right hand outstretched and her left carrying branches of oak and laurel. Inscriptions on this field of the coin include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2022.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2022 American Eagle Silver Coin comes with an image of the American bald eagle. In this new design from Emily Damstra, the bald eagle is shown in flight with its wings swept back behind its figure as its talons clutch a large oak branch. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.
