{{/presale}}In the United States, Mothers Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May. The movement to establish Mothers Day in the US began with Anna Jarvis in 1905 and was originally intended to be a day of service and religious observance. By 1914, it was established as a national holiday honoring the service of all mothers across the country to their communities and families. Provident Metals now has 2022 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins available to you online in Happy Mothers Day cards.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2022 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin online in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a 1 oz silver coin from the American Eagle Series that is individually housed in a sealed clamshell. This clamshell card offers a sealed capsule space at the center to house the 2022 American Eagle and includes a beautiful Mothers Day design theme. The card has pink hues on both sides, with a Happy Mothers Day greeting and a ring of roses on the front. The back of the card includes the details of the coin and a few additional roses.
Obverse
The obverse side of 2022 American Eagle Silver Coins comes with an image of Walking Liberty. This design from 1916 was created by Adolph A. Weinman and shows Libertys full-length figure in left-profile relief with the American flag draped around her figure. As she walks toward the sun cresting a mountain in the distance, she extends her right hand and clutches branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2022.
Reverse
On the reverse face of 2022 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the new American bald eagle design introduced in 2021 in the series. Designed by Emily Damstra, this bald eagle is shown soaring through the sky with its wings flexed and its talons clutching an oak branch. Inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
In 1908, Congress initially rejected a proposal to make Mothers Day an official holiday, even joking at the time that doing so would most likely result in having to also establish a Mother-in-Laws Day. By 1911, however, all states had begun to observe the holiday, with Ms. Jarvis home state of West Virginia being the first. By the 1920s, the new national holiday had become commercialized, much to the dismay of Ms. Jarvis.
