{{/presale}}The West Point Mint issued two versions of the coveted Proof American Eagle Silver Coin in 2021. Through June of 2021, the mint issued its standard W-Proof American Eagle with the original reverse design from John Mercanti, the final time this design would appear. In July, production shifted to introduce the new W-Proof American Eagle with an all-new reverse depiction of the bald eagle. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver 35th-Anniversary Coins in perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The new design on the reverse of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Silver Type 2 coin comes from Emily Damstra. A member of the US Mint Artistic Infusion Program, Ms. Damstra has already worked with the US Mint on designs for collections such as the America the Beautiful program. She also has experience with the Royal Canadian Mint on the Canadian Wildlife Series and the Birds of Prey Series.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is the historic Walking Liberty effigy. This design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and shows Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks along draped in the American flag with her right hand extended and her left carrying branches of oak and laurel. Inscriptions feature LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Silver Coin features the new bald eagle design from Emily Damstra. In this design, the eagle swoops into view with its wings flexed and its talons clutching a large oak branch. The inscriptions on this face read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
History
John Mercantis depiction of the American bald eagle graced the reverse of the American Eagle Silver Coins from 1986 to June 2021. This original design for the series was a version of the heraldic eagle that was modernized in 1986 for use on the coins.
