The new Proof American Eagle Platinum Series offers new designs running from 2021 to 2025 that are inspired by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. The First Amendment was adopted by the United States in December 1791, three years after the US Constitution was ratified. The first Ten Amendments enshrined some of the most important freedoms of America in what was collectively known as the Bill of Rights.

Obverse

Created by Donna Weaver, an artist with the Artistic Infusion Program at the US Mint, the image features a small acorn on the ground that has sprouted a small sapling. Reverse

The reverse field of 2021-W Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins depicts an American bald eagle. The new common reverse, this work of art was created by Patricia Lucas-Morris. It depicts an American bald eagle with its wings swooping around its frame as it flies into view. The eagle clutches an olive branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read United States of America, $100, 1 oz., .9995 Platinum, and W, the mint mark for the West Point Mint.

History

The new Proof American Eagle Platinum design series is the latest from the US Mint to grace the reverse of these coins. Starting with the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence Series in 2018, the Statue of Liberty figure has gone from the obverse and the static annual design is now that of the bald eagle on the reverse.
