{{/presale}}The Proof American Eagle Gold Coins are some of the most coveted collectible gold pieces around. The series was introduced between 1986 and 1988, with one weight each released in 1986 and 1987, and two weights issued in 1988 to round out the series. Right now, you can buy the 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of a 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is ideally packaged by the United States Mint. The coins are encapsulated and housed within a commemorative flip-top box from the US Mint. The coins also come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Obverse
On the obverse side of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coin is Lady Liberty. Created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this iconic image of Liberty shows her figure in full relief as she walks toward the viewer holding up a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The rays of the sun emerge from behind her figure as a ring of 50 stars encircles the design element. The inscriptions on this side include Liberty, 2021, and W as the mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Reverse
The reverse field of 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins includes the family of American bald eagles. This will be the last time the original design from Miley Busiek is ever used on the reverse side of the Proof American Eagle Gold Coins. It depicts a male eagle flying over the nest where a female and a hatchling rest. Inscriptions on this side read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and 1 oz Fine Gold 50 Dollars.
History
The United States Mint has issued these coins annually since 1986 with the same designs on the obverse and reverse. While the obverse design will remain indefinitely moving forward, the 35th anniversary of the series will bring a new design of the American bald eagle to the reverse. Those new designs are not ready for the production process yet, with the US Mint releasing the first batches of 2021 Proofs with the classic designs.
