{{/presale}}The proof coins in the American Eagle Gold Series are some of the most beautiful specimens in the world. In 2021, the United States Mint issued two versions of the coveted Proof American Eagle Gold Coin. The Type 1 and Type 2 issues celebrated the 35th anniversary of the series while providing a bridge between the original reverse design and the newly-introduced design from Jennie Norris. Type 1 coins featured the original design on the reverse from Miley Busiek. Today, you have the chance to get near-perfect 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Type 1 release of American Eagle Gold Coins to start 2021 featured the Miley Busiek depiction of bald eagles on the reverse of the coins. Issued from January to June 2021, these coins were available only in the BU and Proof collections, with no Burnished coin issued in early 2021 with the Type 1 reverse.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins is a portrait of Liberty in front-facing relief. This revolutionary full-length figure of Liberty was designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and first used on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907 to 1933. Inscriptions on this field include LIBERTY and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins comes with a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. In this design, a male eagle soars over the nest as a female eagle keeps a close eye on the hatchlings within the nest. The inscriptions on this field of the coin include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE GOLD, 50 DOLLARS, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
History
The design of the Type 1 coins is the original artwork from Miley Busiek for this series. Introduced in 1986 with the four BU weights and one Proof weight in the American Eagle Gold Series, this design was used on all BU American Eagle Gold, Proof American Eagle Gold, and Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins until mid-2021.
Ordering
These 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins have PR69 certifications. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster with no more than two flaws. These minor flaws must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin and are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
