{{/presale}}The long-awaited Type 2 design for the American Eagle Gold Coins is now available to both investors and collectors. The 2021 release started with BU and Proof coins bearing the original Type 1 designs, with no Burnished version of the coin issued yet in 2021. With the Type 2 design now in production at the US Mint, all three versions are available to buyers. Right now, you can buy 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Type 2 Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is beautifully packaged by the United States Mint. The coin is held in an acrylic capsule with a black presentation box to house the coin and its capsule. A Certificate of Authenticity is available with your purchase that has the obverse artwork on it and the outer shipping sleeve for the box has the artwork from the reverse of the coin.
Obverse
Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse side of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coin. This design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens as a symbol of Americas emergence on the global stage. In the design, Liberty walks toward the viewer holding up a torch to light the way and carrying an olive branch in her left hand. The U.S. Capitol Building is visible at her feet with rays of sunshine coming from behind her figure. The design element is encircled by a ring of stars and bears inscriptions of Liberty, 2021, and the W mint mark from the West Point Mint.
Reverse
A new American bald eagle design graces the reverse of 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Type 2 Coins. The image found here comes from Jennie Norris and shows a bald eagles head in left-profile relief with its steely gaze fixed on you. The inscriptions on this face include United States of America, In God We Trust, E Pluribus Unum, 1/4 oz. Fine Gold, and 10 Dollars.
History
With production capacity and gold blank resources split across the Type 1 and Type 2 design programs for 2021, the US Mint has established strict limits on the Type 2 release. These 1/4 oz gold coins have the second-highest mintage limit among the Proof American Eagle Gold Coins at 3,375 coins available in this packaging option. The 1/10 oz coin has the highest mintage with the presentation packaging option at 10,000 coins.
