{{/presale}}The coins of the Proof American Eagle Gold Series come in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold weights. The largest and smallest coins in the series often prove to be the best sellers, while the 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz coins experience lesser demand. The series celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2021 with a two-version release featuring the original design combinations early on and the new design combinations after mid-2021. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins in perfect condition online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Recent years have seen the 2021 Proof American Eagle Gold Coins have much lower mintages than some of the earliest releases in the series. Since the 1980s, no coin has come closer than halfway toward its record high. In all, the four coins all set individual mintage records in their debut years of 1986, 1987 (1/2 oz), and 1988 (1/4 oz and 1/10 oz). For example, the Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin hit a record of 98,028 in 1988, and reached 62,674 in 1990. It has not surpassed 50,000 in any year since then.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins is the image of Liberty created in 1907. The design was developed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and used on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907 to 1933. In this image, Liberty strides forward in front-facing relief with a large torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read Liberty, 2021, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins comes with a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. As the male eagle flies above the nest with a branch in its talons, the nest holds a female eagle that is closely guarding a hatchling. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include United States of America, 1/4 oz. Fine Gold 10 Dollars, In God We Trust, and E Pluribus Unum.
History
2021 marks the last time that the design from Miley Busiek will feature in this series. By mid-2021, a new design will feature on the reverse that captures a bald eagles head in left-profile relief in a realistic depiction of the aerial predator.
