{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Proof American Eagle Gold Coins are visually-brilliant, collectible coins issued in four weights each year at the United States Mint. The largest of the three fractional-ounce coins is the 1/2 oz gold coin, available from 1987 in the series. The proof coins in the American Eagle Gold Series are often received for certification by the PCGS or NGC, with the best of those receiving PR70 and DCAM grades. Provident Metals now has perfect condition 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin through this Provident Metals listing, the item you receive comes with a perfect certification from the PCGS. A PR70 coin is identifiable through its full, original mint luster and the complete lack of detracting flaws on the surface areas and design elements. The included DCAM label is unique to proof coins and indicates that the item has strong, frosted designs that contrast beautifully with the deeply-mirrored, clear field.
In addition, these coins also come with a First Strike label. Coins with this designation were received by the PCGS within 30 days of the original release date from the United States Mint.
Obverse
Lady Liberty graces the obverse of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin. Designed in 1907, this historic image features Liberty with free-flowing hair as she strides forward confidently holding out a torch in her right hand while clutching an olive branch in her left. The US Capitol Building is featured at her feet in the background with rays of sunshine framing her figure on the horizon. The edge of the design element has a ring of 50 stars, one for each US state. The inscriptions on this face include Liberty, 2013, and a W mint mark from the West Point Mint.
Reverse
For the final time in the history of this series, Miley Busieks design of a family of bald eagles is on the reverse of 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins. The design depicts a male eagle returning to the nest with a branch in its talons as a female eagle offers shelter under her wing to a hatchling in the nest. The design includes inscriptions of United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and 1/2 oz. Fine Gold – 25 Dollars.
History
The American Eagle Gold Coins will receive an updated depiction of a bald eagles head in left-profile relief on the reverse of the coins by mid-2021. This marks not only the first-ever significant design change in the series, but also the first year in which two different versions of the coin will be issued.
