Obverse
Walking Liberty is found on the obverse of 2021-W Burnished American Eagle Silver Coins. Designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, the image shows Liberty in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon. Her effigy is flanked by inscriptions of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2021, and the new inclusion of Weinmans original AW signature mark from the 1916 Walking Liberty design.
Reverse
An all-new image of the American bald eagle features in the reverse of 2021-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. This depiction of the bald eagle shows the bird as it swoops down into view, its wings flexed behind its back and its talons clutching a large oak branch. This field of the coin comes with inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
History
Emily Damstra created the brand-new design of the bald eagle featured on the reverse of 2021 American Eagle Type 2 Silver Coins. She has previously completed designs in the Canadian Wildlife and Birds of Prey Series at the Royal Canadian Mint, as well as the America the Beautiful Series at the United States Mint.
