Highlights:
Provident Metals is pleased to offer the new 2021 Solomon Islands Ocean Predators Series Polar Bear Shaped 2 oz Silver Coin to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually presented inside of a custom-shaped capsule with a full-color, graphically-illustrated polar bear design. The coin, capsule, and box come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Obverse
On the obverse is a bust of 2021 Solomon Islands Ocean Predators Series Polar Bear Shaped 2 oz Silver Coin. This right-profile effigy of the Queen was developed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and depicts the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The background field features a navigational map with a compass element and the islands of the South Pacific. The inscriptions include Solomon Islands, 5 Dollars, and Elizabeth II, with a unique serial number in the bump-out section.
Reverse
The reverse face of 2021 Solomon Islands Polar Bear Shaped 2 oz Silver Coins features the worlds largest bear species on the attack. Polar bears had adapted over thousands of years to the harsh environment of the Arctic Circle and the Arctic Ocean. In particular, the bears have stocky, powerful legs with wide paws that enable them to move fluidly through the water in search of their primary source of meat: seals. The design bump-out feature on this side includes a vision of the polar bear striking at its prey. Inscriptions include 2021, 999.9, Silver, and 2 oz.
History
Polar bears are closely related to the brown bear species, but are thought to have diverged genetically and geographically some 400,000 years ago. In addition to its short, stocky legs and wide feet, the polar bear has adapted white fur and a longer skull and nose. A male polar bear can reach a length of up to 9 feet 10 inches and weigh upwards of 1,500 lbs.
