History
Each of the coins in the Proof Dollar Silver Series comes with a face value assigned by the Jamul Sovereign Nation. The indigenous tribes of the United States with federal recognition are considered sovereign nations with the right to issue currency, though the coins cannot be considered legal tender US dollars. The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians was unified as a singular, federally-recognized entity through an 1853 treaty. The tribe is named for the Cow Creek in Oregon, a region the tribes within the Cow Creek Band historically called home.
