{{/presale}}Oklahoma is the latest state to feature in the Native American Mints Proof Dollar Series of silver coins. With each release, a new state and indigenous culture is represented in the design, as well as an animal species important to the culture of that tribe or common within that region of the country. Once known as the Indian Territory, the modern-day state of Oklahoma is home to various tribal nations. Today, you have the chance to get 2021 Proof Oklahoma Cheyenne Black Widow Spider 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Oklahoma was known as the Indian Territory in the late-19th century because it was home to more than 30 different indigenous tribes. While the Osage and Quapaw tribes were native to the region, beginning in the 1830s, the US government began removing tribes from the southeastern United States to what is now Oklahoma. The first among them were the Choctaw and Cherokee.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2021 Proof Oklahoma Cheyenne Black Widow Spider 1 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of a Cheyenne tribal figure. Depicted wearing tribal ceremonial dress, the figure is surrounded by inscriptions of Cheyenne, 999 Silver, 2021, One Dollar, and One Ounce.
Reverse
The reverse field of 2021 Proof Oklahoma Cheyenne 1 oz Silver Coins features a black widow spider. The deadliest spider in North America, the black widow is recognizable by its black body and red spot on its underbelly. Though the female black widows bite is incredibly toxic, it is increasingly rare that people die as a result of the bit. Inscriptions on this face read Oklahoma Black Widow, Jamul Sovereign Nation, and America.
History
The history of the Cheyenne people includes several mergers and splits, with the initial tribes split between the Sotaeoo and the Tsetsehestahese. In the early 1800s, these tribes merged together. However, by the end of that same century, the bands of Cheyenne people would again split between the so-called Northern Cheyenne and Southern Cheyenne. Today, those people are federally recognized as the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma and the Northern Cheyenne Tribes of Montana.
