{{/presale}}The Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coins from the Mexican Mint are among the most beautifully designed coins in the world. Offered in proof as of 2005 as an annual-release coin, the first Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coins were introduced in 1983 following the 1981 debut of the BU versions of the coin. Provident Metals now has 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 5-Coin Gold Sets available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you buy the 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 5-Coin Gold Set at Provident Metals, you will receive the coins inside of the original packaging offered courtesy of Banco de Mexico. The set includes 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz gold coins, each one with its own protective plastic capsule. The coins and capsules are housed together inside of a wooden presentation box with a shipper from Banco de Mexico.
Obverse
On the obverse field of 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coins, you will find the modern national coat of arms. The modern seal shows a powerful golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus with its talons working to control a rattlesnake. There is a wreath made of oak and laurel below and an inscription of Estados Unidos Mexicanos above. The fractional-ounce gold coins have only that design, but the 1 oz gold coin has an additional element. Around the outer edge of the design field, the 1 oz gold coin has 10 historic versions of the coat of arms.
Reverse
The reverse of 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coins features the statue of Winged Victory. In this design element, the statue of Winged Victory towers over Mexico City from the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The background field offers a view of the twin volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. The inscriptions on this face of each coin include the weight in Onza, along with Oro Puro, 2021 Ley .999, and the MO mint mark from the Mexican Mint.
History
Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coins were struck in a staggered manner in the first two decades of availability. In 1983, the 1 oz gold coin was issued with limited numbers. In 1989, the 1/2 oz gold coin was issued with limited numbers. In 2004, the 1/4 oz gold coin was issued. In 2005, all five weights were issued together for the first time. This continued until 2011. In 2012, the series was suspended. As of 2013, all five weights have been available annually once again.
