{{/presale}}The Proof Mexican Libertad Series is one of the most diverse collections in which you can purchase proof silver coins. The series offers traditional 1 oz and 1 Kilo silver proof coins, but it also offers four fractional-ounce silver coins with 2 oz and 5 oz silver coins. The 2 oz coin has been available in this series since 1996 and was popular enough to be included in the antique and reverse proof options released in 2017 and 2018. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coins debuted at the Mexican Mint in 1983. The first release of the coins came in 1983, but was a one-year issue. The series returned in 1986 with the 1 oz silver coin available on its own through 1991. In 1992, the mint introduced 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/2 oz silver coins. These 2 oz coins debuted in 1996 with a 5 oz silver option as well. The final coin issued was the 1 kilo proof-like option in 2002.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coins is the modern coat of arms for Mexico. The seal includes a golden eagle in left-profile relief as it struggles to devour a rattlesnake. The design includes an oak-and-laurel wreath below the eagle and its prickly pear cactus, with the inscription Estados Unidos Mexicanos above the seal.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2021 PRoof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin comes with an image of Winged Victory. This statuesque female figure dates to the era of the Mexican revolution when the people of Mexico threw off the shackles of Spanish colonial oppression to chart their own course forward into the future. Her figure has wings on the back with a crown wreath in the right hand and broken chains in the left hand. Inscriptions on this side include 2 Onza, Plata Pura, 2021 Ley .999, and the MO mint mark from the Mexican Mint.
History
The Proof Mexican Libertad 2 oz Silver Coin experienced two peaks in demand during its existing history. The first came in 2009 during the height of the Great Recession as demand for all forms of silver increased. A total of 6,200 silver coins were sold that year, a more than six-fold increase over the average release year. The other high mintage mark came in 2018 when 5,000 silver coins were sold.
