{{/presale}}Introduced in 1992, the 1/2 oz version of the Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin is one of the more popular options in the series. The 1/2 oz silver coin is the largest of four fractional-ounce silver coins in the series and has had some of the highest mintage figures seen across the entire series from the 1/20 oz silver coin to the massive 1 Kilo silver coin. Right now, you can get 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of a 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals, you receive a specimen that is housed inside of an individual protective plastic capsule. The proof coins in the Mexican Libertad Silver range have traditional, contrasting elements that include frosted designs above clear, mirrored fields.
Obverse
In the obverse design of 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coins, the national coat of arms is featured. The modern seal features a golden eagle in left-profile relief as it uses its talon and beak to try to control, and hopefully devour, a rattlesnake. The eagle is perched on a prickly pear cactus with an oak-and-laurel wreath below, and an inscription above of Estados Unidos Mexicanos.
Reverse
For the reverse field, the 2021 Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin features an image of Winged Victory. The statue of Winged Victory was commissioned and made from copper in 1910 to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of Mexicos struggle for independence. The statue depicts a female figure with wings on her back, a crown wreath in her right hand, and broken chains in her left hand. The volcanic mountain peaks in the background are found outside Mexico City and are known as Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read 1/2 Onza, Plata Pura, 2021 Ley .999, and the MO mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
History
The Proof Mexican Libertad 1/2 oz Silver Coin has the distinction of holding the fourth-highest mintage figure of any Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin in the history of the series. The highest mintage recorded is the 2018 debut of the 1 oz Antique coin at 40,000. The next two highest mintages belong to the 1 oz Proof at 30,006 coins in 1986 and 13,250 in 2016. That same year, the 1/2 oz Proof set its own record with 13,150 coins sold.
