History
Days of Thanksgiving were celebrated in England as early as 1536. When the Pilgrims came to the New World, they brought with them the concept of celebrating a Day of Thanksgiving for bountiful harvests. In October 1621, the Pilgrims had their first bountiful harvest and shared it with members of the local Wampanoag tribe who had helped them survive their first winter and learn to grow crops in the New World.
