History
Most people believe that Brumby horses are descended from horses that escaped from ranches or were lost. There is a popular story that Sergeant James Brumby is responsible for the breed because he released his horses into the wild when he was ordered to move from New South Wales to Tasmania in 1804. Regardless of the origin, the horses have managed to survive for more than 200 years.
