{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The American Silver Eagle is recognized around the world and continues to lead annual silver coin sales. When demand increases, the United States Mint sometimes calls on facilities other than West Point to help produce enough Brilliant Uncirculated coins. In 2020, staffing shortages, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and strong investor buying led to emergency production at the Philadelphia Mint. That assistance carried into 2021. Today, 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in certified condition are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin offered here is housed in its own protective slab and includes the NGC FDI X label. This designation confirms the coin was delivered to NGC for grading within 24 hours of its release from the mint. The NGCX grading system uses a 10-point scale common to other collectible markets. A Mint State 10 grade indicates a sharply struck coin with no visible post-production imperfections under 5x magnification.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coin is Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design. Liberty is shown moving toward the rising sun, her right hand extended outward. She carries oak and laurel branches in her left arm, and the American flag drapes across her figure as she walks along the landscape. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2021 (P) Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin features the original heraldic eagle artwork. John Mercanti adapted this design in 1986 for the Silver Eagle series. The eagle appears behind a national shield, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other to symbolize defense and peace. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and 1 OZ FINE SILVER.
History
In 1999 and 2000, the Philadelphia Mint previously supported the production of Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Eagles. Beginning in 2001, West Point became the main production site for the series. However, when demand rises above available capacity, other mint facilities step in to help. The emergency-struck coins from Philadelphia in 2020 and 2021 helped ensure a steady supply during a period of heightened interest in precious metals.
