{{/presale}}With demand for the American Eagle Silver Coin still very high in 2021 and the US Mint still facing staffing issues amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, other mints are still helping the West Point Mint meet the demand for the coins. One of the mints issuing emergency batches of the coins is the Philadelphia Mint, which last issued BU Silver Eagles prior to 2020 in 1999 and 2000. Today, you have the opportunity to get perfect 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
In 1999 and 2000, the Philadelphia Mint issued the BU American Eagle Silver Coin during the two years in which the US Mint transitioned the coins from the San Francisco Mint to the West Point Mint. The US Mint already had the Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin in production at Philadelphia as of 1993, making the switch easier. The coins were previously issued in BU at the San Francisco Mint from 1986 to 1998 and have been released by the West Point Mint since 2001.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin is a depiction of Walking Liberty. Liberty features here in left-profile relief walking toward the sun on the horizon as it rises above a mountain peak. Liberty is carrying the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand as she wears the American flag draped around her figure. The inscriptions present on this side of the coin include Liberty and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse face of 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coins features an image of the heraldic eagle. First designed in 1794, the image was modernized for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti. It depicts a powerful eagle in front-facing relief as its wide-swept wings support the US national shield. The bird clutches the olive branch of peace and the arrows of war in its talons as a triangular cluster of 13 stars is depicted above its head. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.
History
American Eagle Silver Coins in the BU series were issued for the first time in 20 years by the Philadelphia Mint in April 2020 as the West Point Mint was forced to close briefly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though West Point remains open in 2021, high demand and staffing limitations require the assistance of Philadelphia still.
