{{/presale}}The latest release of Niue silver comes with a colorized design honoring Hans Christian Andersens Princess and the Pea story. Originally written and published with three other writers in 1835, it remains a popular fairy tale retold to this day. Provident Metals now has 2021 Niue The Princess and the Pea 1 oz Silver Coins available to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 2021 Niue The Princess and the Pea 1 oz Silver Coin online from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is individually presented. The coins are housed inside separate cases with a green exterior and a pop-off lid enclosing the case.
Obverse
The obverse side of 2021 Niue The Princess and the Pea Silver Coins offers a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II shown here is a right-profile relief that shows the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. This was designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and includes inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, NIUE, 1 DOLLAR, 2021, and AG 999.
Reverse
On the reverse face of 2021 Niue The Princess and the Pea 1 oz Silver Coins is an image of a cartoon princess. She is shown seated impatiently atop a mattress with a ladder nearby that she used to climb to the top of the bed. She has lost one sock and seemingly cannot sleep because she is sitting up with an exasperated look on her face. Several layers beneath her, there is a green Swarovski crystal that serves as the pea that is interrupting her sleep.
History
Hans Christian Andersen is credited with writing down the tale of the Princess and the Pea. However, he recounted that he was told the story as a child and that it may have originated in Swedish folklore. Andersen is Danish and the story was previously unknown in the oral tradition of Denmark.
