The 2021 EC8 Dominica 1 oz Silver Coin BU is struck in 99.9% fine silver and is available to be purchased in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. All silver BU coins with the Dominica design can be shipped in individual capsules, skinboards of five, or boxes of 125 coins.
History
The eight nations of the Eastern Caribbean that are featured in the EC8 coin program include Dominica, Anguilla, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Montserrat, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Every nation, with the exception of Anguilla, are founding members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and are represented in the coin series with their own unique designs created by the Scottsdale Mint. Both silver and gold coins are offered to collectors and investors in the EC8 coin program.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2021 EC8 Dominica 1 oz Silver Coin BU shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. This profile portrait was created specifically to be used for the Royal Mint of England. This portrait has also been used on many other coins created under the Commonwealth, including Australia, New Zealand, and Britain.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2021 EC8 Dominica 1 oz Silver Coin BU, two Imperial Amazon parrots are seen nestled together on a tree branch. Also known as the Sisserou, this type of parrot is considered to be highly endangered in the Eastern Caribbean. The Sisserou is the national bird of the Island of Dominica and is even featured on the island nations flag. The reverse of the 2021 coin also shows the year of release and the countrys inscription.
