Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse side of 2021 EC8 Antigua and Barbuda Gold Coins. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. The Queens portrait is flanked by two large fern leaves, with the image of the Queen created in 1998 for the Royal Mint of England by Ian Rank-Broadley. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK, 1 OZ .9999 GOLD, QUEEN ELIZABETH II, and TEN DOLLARS.
Reverse
A frigate bird is featured in the reverse design of the new 2021 EC8 Antigua and Barbuda 1 oz Gold Coin. The male frigate bird is well known for a distinctive physical feature known as a gular pouch, a feature that is bright red on the birds. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read 2021 and ANTIGUA & BARBUDA.

Antigua and Barbuda is both a founding member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. The former group fosters better coordination between island nations in this region of the Caribbean, while the latter provides stable monetary policies for those nations with a shared currency.
