{{/presale}}Introduced in 1983, the Chinese Panda Silver bullion coins went through several variations and ups-and-downs before settling in as an annual-release coin. 1989 was the first time Chinese Mint offered a standardized 1 Troy oz silver coin with .999 pure silver content. An early feature of the Chinese Panda that has stuck with the program through the years is the use of new obverse design elements depicting the Giant Panda. Today, you have the chance to buy 2021 Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Chinese Mint first issued the Chinese Panda Silver coin as a proof specimen in 1983. The early versions of the coin had weights that never stuck to 1 Troy oz each year, sometimes going over that mark and sometimes falling under. The silver content of the coins ebbed and flowed as well during this time. The first issues were proof specimens through 1988. After an early halt in the program, the 1 Troy oz weight was standardized first, followed by the .999 pure content. By 1989, the Chinese Mint had stabilized the coin as a 1 Troy oz .999 pure silver BU specimen that would be available annually.
Obverse
In the obverse design of 2021 Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coins, the Chinese Mint features a new design for 2021 depicting a mother panda with her cub. The young cub is shown climbing the trunk of a tree looking down at its mother. The mother panda is glancing up at her cub and even extending a paw as if to support it from behind. The inscriptions include 30 g Ag .999 and the 10 Yuan face value.
Reverse
For the reverse design, the 2021 Chinese Panda Silver Coin features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. Built between 1406 and 1420, the building is the central structure in the Temple of Heaven Complex within the city of Beijing. Inscriptions on this side include the nation of issue in Mandarin script above the design element and the date mark of 2021 below the design element.
History
In 2016, the Chinese Mint transitioned the Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coin to the Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver coin. This resulted in a slight drop in the Troy oz weight of the coin from an even 1 Troy oz to .9645 Troy oz.
