Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of 2021 British Music Legends The Who 1 oz Silver Coin. This fifth-generation portrait of the Queen debuted at the Royal Mint on 2016-dated coins and shows the Queen at the age of 89. In this design, Her Majesty wears the George IV State Diadem Crown with simple earrings in her ears. The background field has a guilloche element and the inscriptions around the edge of the field read 2 Pounds, Elizabeth II, and D.G. Reg. F.D.
Reverse
A guitar is featured bursting into the foreground on the reverse of the 2021 British Music Legends The Who Silver Coins. The guitar has the Union Jack on it and has burst through an amplifier in the background that showcases the mod roundel of The Who, as well as the nameplate logo for The Who. Inscriptions on this side repeat around the very edge of the coin and include 1 oz Fine Silver 999 2021.
History
The Who formed in 1964 and has been active, with a few interruptions, since that time. From 1964 to 1978, the original members of the band performed and toured together. When drummer Keith Moon died in 1978, the group eventually replaced him with Kenney Jones and continued performing regularly through 1983. The group has been active at different periods since then with different performers filling in.
