{{/presale}}The British Britannia is one of the worlds most popular coin collections. The annual bullion series features the female allegory representative of both the British Isles and the people of Britain. Originating during the Roman occupation of Britain, the effigy of Britannia has featured on British coins since the 17th century. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2021 British Britannia 2-Coin Silver Sets online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Britannia herself became a symbol of Britain during the period of Briton and Celtic resistance to the Roman occupation. The name itself actually comes from the Roman Latin word given to the province when the empire invaded. In fact, Britannia made her debut on coins of the British Isles in the 1st century CE when Emperor Hadrian released Roman coins for the region with Britannias image.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse field of the 2021 British Britannia Silver Coins in this set. Jody Clark developed this effigy of the Queen in 2015 to serve as the fifth-generation portrait of Her Majesty on national currency. The portrait shows the Queen with the George IV State Diadem Crown and each coin boasts inscriptions of 2 Pounds, Elizabeth II, and D.G. Reg F.D.
Reverse
Britannia is showcased alongside the Lion of England on the reverse face of 2021 British Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins in this two-coin set. The image of Britannia depicts her figure wearing her Corinthian helmet and holding her trident and shield in her left hand as she kneels next to the Lion of England. The powerful heraldic beast is seated next to Britannia and both figures have hair and robes blowing the breeze. Inscriptions on this side include Britannia, 1 oz .999 Fine Silver, and 2021.
History
Britannia 2-Coin Silver Sets are available annually from the Royal Mint of England. The coins are produced by the Royal Mint with new images of Britannia on the reverse side each year, while its BU coins come with the same design of Britannia each year.
