{{/presale}}The Perth Mint’s bullion collectibles are some of the most prized pieces on the market, with a global reputation for quality and the purity of their products constitutionally guaranteed by the Government of West Australia. Chinese traditional legends and folklore feature on a substantial array of the coins in the mint’s diverse output, including the recent addition of the popular Double Dragon series. The Dragon in Chinese culture is one of the most potent of symbols, representing strength, wisdom, and good fortune and celebrated in shrines and temples, festivals and ceremonies, and in a vast legacy of art stretching back into prehistory. Joining that legacy is the 2021 Australian Double Dragon 10 oz Silver Coin, now available from Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
The 2021 Australian Double Dragon Silver Coin is supplied from a highly exclusive original mintage of only 888 pieces, a figure that evokes the power of the lucky number eight in Chinese numerology. The Provident Metals team tracks and fully insures every shipment, and your beautiful ten-ounce collectible arrives in a protective plastic capsule.
Obverse
This obverse field of this coin features Jody Clark’s effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II, confirming it as legal tender of Australia. This is accompanied by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” “10oz 9999 Ag,” “2021” and “10 DOLLARS.”
Reverse
A pair of Chinese dragons is rendered in elegant and ornate engraved artwork on the coin’s reverse field. They pursue a single flaming pearl that represents wisdom and enlightenment and are surrounded by rolling clouds, accompanied by the “P” mint mark.
History
The Perth Mint has a history of more than a century of high-quality production, going back to its founding in 1896. As a branch of the British Royal Mint, they struck more than a hundred million gold sovereigns for use throughout Australia and the wider British Empire, and were noted for striking some of the purest gold ever to be produced with a proof plate that became part of the reference point for the Royal Mint’s own standards. In 1970, ownership of the mint was transferred to the Government of Western Australia and launched into a new era of the production of bullion coins that have become famous all over the world.
