{{/presale}}The American Eagle Platinum Series is one of the lowest-minted options in the American Eagle bullion collection from the US Mint. The gold and silver coins vastly outpace the platinum coins each year, with even the limited issues of the palladium coin often surpassing that of the American Eagle Platinum Coin. With low mintages, Certified American Eagle Platinum Coins take on even greater value. Provident Metals offers near-perfect 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins for online purchasing.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins at Provident Metals, the item you receive comes with a certification from the PCGS. Mint State 69 coins are considered near-perfect and come with no more than two minor detracting flaws present. Examples of acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin. First Strike labels are for those coins received by the PCGS within 30 days of release by the US Mint.
Obverse
The obverse of 2021 American Eagle Platinum Coins depicts the Statue of Liberty. Designed exclusively for this series in 1997 by John Mercanti, the image is fixed on the face of Lady Liberty. She is shown with a stoic gaze, her eyes fixed on the horizon over the Atlantic Ocean. Her right shoulder is just visible in the design as her right arm extends beyond the design field to hold aloft her guiding torch. The towering spikes of her crown are visible in the design. Inscriptions include Liberty, 2021, In God We Trust, and E Pluribus Unum. Near Libertys braided hair just over her right shoulder, you will notice the initials JM for John Mercanti.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin is a vision of the American bald eagle. The eagle is shown here with its talons up beneath its frame and its wings flexed out wide as it glides through the sky. The sun is depicted in the background as it rises over the horizon with rays of sunshine emerging. Inscriptions on this face read United States of America, .9995 Platinum 1 oz., $100, and the TDR initials of Thomas D. Rogers.
History
American Eagle Platinum Coins debuted from the United States Mint in 1997. The coins were initially struck in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz platinum. From 2009 to 2013, no coins were issued. The 1 oz coin is the only one still available in the series and is offered annually again as of 2016.
