Obverse
Lady Liberty features on the obverse of 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins. This design was first created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and remains largely the same as it was when first released. The image has long featured Liberty in front-facing relief with a large torch in her right hand, an olive branch in her left, and rays of sunshine behind her figure. While the original 1907 design had a ring of 46 stars, later altered in 1912 to include 48 stars, the design shown here has 50 stars. Inscriptions include Liberty and 2021.
Reverse
American bald eagles are found in the reverse design of 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins. Here, a female eagle extends a wing to guard a hatchling in the nest as a male eagle soars over the nest with its wings outstretched and a branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and 1 oz. Fine Gold 50 Dollars.
