Obverse
Walking Liberty is featured on the obverse side of the 2020-W V75 Privy Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin. This figure of Liberty comes from the former US half dollar and was designed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. It depicts Liberty walking toward the sun as it crests a mountaintop on the horizon. Her right hand is stretched out toward the sun as her left carries the branches of oak and laurel that symbolize American civic and military prowess.
Reverse
A modern version of the heraldic eagle is featured on the reverse of 2020-W V75 Privy Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. Modified in 1986 by John Mercanti, it offers the front-facing American bald eagle with the US national shield, arrows of war in one talon, and olive branch of peace in the other. Above its head, you will find a triangular cluster of 13 stars.
History
After several years of war, the spring and summer of 1945 finally brought peace to the globe. In May, Nazi Germany surrendered to the United States, United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union, ending the European Theater of conflict. In August, Imperial Japan surrendered to the United States and brought the Pacific Theater conflict, and broader World War II fight, to a close.
The 75th Anniversary privy mark on the obverse of these coins is shaped like the Rainbow Pool, a reflecting pool at the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. Within it is an inscription of V75.
