When you purchase the 2020 Ukrainian Archangel Michael 1 oz Silver Coin available from Provident Metals. You will receive your coins individually housed inside of protective plastic capsules. The coins are also available in multiples of 20 and 200. Multiples of 20 coins come in mint tubes, with multiples of 200 coins in boxes of 10 tubes. All items are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2020 Ukrainian Archangel Michael 1 oz Silver Coin features a new twist on the coat of arms design. The previous issues had the coat of arms at the top, a shield with a stylized trident. That feature remains, but the central octagonal field now has a simpler design with only the Ukrainian national shield above an inscription of National Bank of Ukraine, 2020, and Ag 999,9 31.1. The outer design field now features an ornate leave border with the face value at the bottom and Ukraine at the top below the coat of arms.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 2020 Ukrainian Archangel Michael Silver Coins is Saint Michael. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all consider Michael to be an archangel, a title given to angels of higher rank in heaven. Catholics, Eastern Orthodox believers, Anglicans, and Lutherans call him Saint Michael the Archangel, or just Saint Michael for short. The design features an image of Michael in his armor with his wings flexed behind his frame and a sword in his right hand.
History
Michael is considered the guardian saint for the city of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Michael is mentioned three times during the Book of Daniel, but the depiction of Michael shown on these coins is inspired by the Book of Revelation in the New Testament. This story tells of a war between God and his angels in heaven and Satan and other fallen angels. In this battle, the archangel Michael leads Gods armies to victory. Depictions of Michael slaying a dragon are representative of him defeating evil or Satan.
