{{/presale}}The American Eagle Silver Coins from the United States Mint have, traditionally, been issued by only one branch mint at a time. In 2011, the US Mint issued the coins from two mints at the same time in an effort to keep up with demand for the coins as interest in silver bullion surged amidst the economic turmoil of COVID-19. Provident Metals now has 2020 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in perfect condition available to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2020 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is in Mint State 70 condition with a protective slab. Coins in this condition are perfect specimens that showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements or fields of the coin. The First Day of Issue designation is for coins that were received for grading within 24 hours of release from the US Mint. Issued by the San Francisco Mint, these coins have no mint marks, as is customary in the BU Series.
Obverse
The obverse field of the 2020 (S) American Eagle Silver Coin comes with a depiction of Walking Liberty. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, this 1916 work of art shows Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. The design element shows her with the American flag draped around her figure and is accompanied by inscriptions of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2020.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2020 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This depiction was modified in 1986 by John Mercanti. The bald eagle features in front-facing relief with the US national shield on its chest, the arrows of war in one talon, and an olive branch of peace in the other. The inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.
History
American Eagle Silver Coins were struck by the San Francisco Mint from 1986 to 1998. The Philadelphia Mint issued the coins in 1999 and 2000. Since 2001, the West Point Mint has issued the coins each year. In 2011, the San Francisco Mint released coins in addition to the West Point Mint to help meet demand. In 2020, the West Point Mint, the San Francisco Mint, and the Philadelphia Mint all issued the coins amidst surging demand and employee distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
