{{/presale}}The Mexican Mint issues the Libertad coin series with silver and gold coins for sale. While the series features investment-grade coins and various collectible versions across the two collections, only three of those versions are available in both silver and gold: BU, Proof, and Reverse Proof. The reverse proof coin is one of the most recent introductions and debuted in gold in 2018. The latest coin is available in this collection with the release of the 2020 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coin now available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad Coins were first issued in the silver series in 2015. In 2018, the gold series got its own reverse-proof coin. Since the release of the Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coin in 2018, the mintage has dropped by half each year. The original release had a mintage of 1,000, followed by 500 coins in 2019 and 250 coins for this 2020 release. The Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coin comes with only 1 oz and 1/2 oz options.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2020 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coin is a depiction of Winged Victory. This iconic statue stands to this day at the heart of Mexico City on the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The symbols serve as a reminder of the nations hard-fought independence from Spain. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read 1 Onza, Oro Puro, 2020 Ley .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2020 Reverse Proof Mexican Libertad Gold Coin features an image of the Mexican coat of arms. The national seal consists of a golden eagle on a cactus as it wrestles with a rattlesnake. This is surrounded in the center field by the cactus and laurel wreath, as well as an inscription of Estados Unidos Mexicanos. Around the outer rim of the design field, you will find 10 historic versions of the national seal.
History
Mexican Libertad Gold Coins were introduced in 1981 in BU and 1983 in Proof. Both series struggled to get to a point of regular production. The BU series became a regular release in 2002 and the Proof in 2005. The coins originally featured the historic Centenario design of Winged Victory until 1999. In 2000, a modernized version debuted.
