{{/presale}}Production of American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are subject to the demand of investors. When demand sinks, so too does the overall mintage level. When demand surges, however, so too does the production of the iconic national bullion coin of the United States. March 2020 saw an unprecedented and unforeseen surge in demand for the coins and resulted in the Philadelphia Mint stepping in to strike an emergency issue totaling an extra 240,000 2020 American Eagle Silver Coins in support of ongoing efforts at the West Point Mint. Provident Metals now has near-perfect 2020-P American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins available to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase the 2020-P American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin in this listing, Provident Metals has coins in a protective plastic slab from the PCGS with a near-perfect grade. A Mint State 69 coin showcases full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin and, at this grading level, cannot be more than minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
The First Day of Issue designation for these coins indicates each was received by the PCGS or an approved third-party depository within the first 24 hours of issue by the US Mint. The labels in the slab identify the coins as being Struck at Philadelphia and representing a Silver Eagle Emergency Issue.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2020-P American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is an image of Walking Liberty. This depiction of Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US Mint to use in its currency redesign of the era. It was featured on the US Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947 and shows Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2020-P American Eagle Silver Coins comes with a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This version of the symbol includes a powerful bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield on its chest, the arrows of war in one talon, and the olive branch of peace in the other. The triangular cluster of 13 stars above its head represent the original colonies that formed the United States.
History
2020 American Eagle Silver Coins available in this listing were produced by the Philadelphia Mint. As a global pandemic forced staffing cutbacks at the West Point Mint at the very moment demand for the coins was surging, the United States Mint pressed the Philadelphia Mint into service. While the West Point Mint was closed for seven days in April 2020, the Philadelphia Mint struck 240,000 additional 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins to meet demand.
