Obverse

The obverse of the 2020 Chinese Shih Kai Flying Dragon Silver Dollar Coin features Yuan Shih-kai. A major figure in Chinese politics during the early 20th century, he played a major role in the end of the Qing dynasty and the start of the Republic. Though his legacy is debated, he was essential in helping guide the country through a time of big change and became the Republics first president in 1912.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2020 Shih Kai Flying Dragon 1 oz Silver Dollar Coins, youll find the image of a dragon in flight. This is a restyled version of the artwork from the 1916 Flying Dragon Dollar. The dragon appears to be in motion, wings outstretched and body curved mid-air, symbolizing Chinas hopes for growth and transformation during a critical historical moment.

History

The 1916 Flying Dragon Dollar represents a key moment in Chinese history. This coin was created not long after the fall of the imperial government and the start of the Republic of China. The flying dragon design brings a sense of energy and movement, symbolizing the change and ambition of that time period.
