{{/presale}}American Eagle gold coins from the United States Mint ended the 50-year gold coin production drought when introduced in 1986. The US Mint halted the production of gold coins during the Great Depression. In 1933, the government not only halted gold coining but it collected the gold coins in circulation to melt down into bullion bars to bolster the Treasury. Right now, you can get the 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
American Eagle 1 oz Gold coins are produced each year by the United States Mint. The US Mint is obligated by federal legislation to coin the bullion version of American Eagle Gold Coins. This includes the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins issued in the series.
Obverse
The obverse face of the 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin includes a depiction of Lady Liberty in front-facing relief. In this design, Liberty is powerful and walks forward with a torch in her right hand to guide the nation into a bright future and she carries an olive branch in her left hand signaling a desire for peace in the future. The US Capitol Building in Washington D.C. is visible at her feet and rays of sunshine emerge in the background behind her figure. She is surrounded by a circle of 50 stars of the US states.
Reverse
On the reverse side, 2020 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins feature a design unique to this series. Created by Miley Busiek, it includes a family of American bald eagles at their nest. While a female shelters a young hatchling with her wing, a large male flies overhead with its wings encompassing the nest.
