{{/presale}}First released in 1981, the Mexican Libertad Gold Coin has only been in annual production since 2002. Following its debut, the coin was issued just five times in total between 1982 and 2001. Since the 2002 resumption of coining, the Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coin has yet to surpass 15,000 coins in a given year. Provident Metals now has 2020 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase in perfect condition.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 2020 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is in perfect condition with a plastic slab from the PCGS. Coins in Mint State 70 condition showcase full, original mint luster and have no detractions of any kind present. The First Strike designation on these coins means each one was received for grading at the PCGS within 30 days of release from the mint.
Obverse
Winged Victory features on the obverse side of 2020 Mexican Libertad Gold Coins. This three-quarter profile of Winged Victory captures her figure as she looks out over Mexico City from the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The design shows her right hand extended with a laurel wreath and her left clutching broken chains. The inscriptions on this field of the coin include 1 ONZA, ORO PURO, 2020 LEY .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
Reverse
The Mexican coat of arms features in several styles on the reverse field of 2020 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Coins. The image at the center is that of the modern version of the seal with a golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus as it struggles with a serpent. This is framed by a wreath of oak and laurel as the words ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS are inscribed above. Around the design element, you will notice 10 historic versions of the same seal.
History
Mexican Libertad Gold Coins have seen an overall downward trend since 2002 in terms of demand. That release featured a mintage of 15,000 coins. From 2002 to 2009, the coins ebbed and flowed between 4,000 and 500 in terms of mintage, hitting a recent high of 6,200 in 2009. Since then, mintages have again fallen into a similar zone, with mintage generally falling each year from 2018 to 2021.
