{{/presale}}The 2019 Proof Rwandan Shoebill 1 oz Silver Coin is the 12th design in the popular Rwandan Wildlife Series. This series of coins pays homage to some of the beautiful animals that call Africa home. Other animals featured in the series include Meerkats, Hippos, Buffalo, Bush Babies, Rhinos and Cheetahs. The design of these coins has great attention to detail and the release is eagerly anticipated by collectors and investors. With just 1,000 of these coins minted, there is high demand for them. The coins each contain 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver and are sold in BU condition.
Highlights:
Shoebills are one of the largest birds to be found in Africa. With many similarities to the stork, but more closely related to the pelican, these large birds can be found in swamp-like locations around the tropical zones in east Africa. The birds name is derived from the large shoe-shaped bill it sports.
The 2019 Proof Rwandan Shoebill 1 oz Silver Coin is issued for the landlocked Republic of Rwanda by the German Mint. With a tumultuous history, Rwanda is one of the smallest African nations. Its position in the African Great Lakes Region means that it has a rich abundance of wildlife.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2019 Proof Rwandan Shoebill 1 oz Silver Coin features the national seal of Rwanda. The seal features symbols of local tribes, and a traditional hut of the Banyarwanda people. Also engraved on the obverse design is the Rwandan motto, the name of the Central Bank of Rwanda as written in the Kinyarwanda language, and the country of issue for the coin.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2019 Proof Rwandan Shoebill 1 oz Silver Coin features a topographical map outline of the continent of African. The map outline is a design element common to each of the coins in the series. However, the lower-left field features two beautifully depicted shoebill birds.
Each of the 2019 Rwandan Shoebill 1 oz Silver Coin Proofs features highly mirrored backgrounds with frosted design elements. The coins are shipped in protective plastic capsules and also included a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
