Highlights:
Your 2019 Gilded Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Silver Coins is available to purchase here today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These are not proof coins, but rather are bullion versions of the coin selected for the application of a thin layer of 24-karat gold to select reverse design elements. This combines the two most-beloved precious metals in one coin while creating visual contrast between the design and the background field. All of the coins are available with an individual plastic flip.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2019 Gilded Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Silver Coins is the Great Pipe Organ from the Golden Concert Hall. Known as the Musikverein, the concert hall is located in the Innere Stadt neighborhood of Vienna and plays host to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for a number of concerts each year. Inscriptions on both faces of the coin are in German, and on this side read Republik Osterreich, 1 Unze Feinsilber, 2019, and 1,50 Euro.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2019 Gilded Austrian Philharmonic 1 oz Silver Coin comes with the depiction of eight musical instruments. Each one of these instruments represents one actually used by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Included in the design are a cello, four violins, a harp, a bassoon, and a French horn. The bassoon, two of the four violins, and the harp all have a 24-karat gold layer applied for visual contrast. The inscription Wiener Philharmoniker is also covered with the gold layer.
History
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was formally established in 1842 and is one of the oldest and most-respected orchestral groups in the world. Historical records show that orchestral concerts were being held in the city of Vienna, Austria, as early as one decade prior to the formation of the Vienna Philharmonic.
