Right now, you can buy the 2019 Colorized ATB War in the Pacific National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Coin Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2019 Colorized ATB War in the Pacific National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Coin, you receive a specimen that comes inside of a presentation box with America the Beautiful designs. Each coin has a thin layer of colorized lacquer that has been applied only to the reverse field to create distinctive visuals bringing the battle scene to life in a new way.
Obverse
The obverse face of all 2019 Colorized ATB 5 oz Silver Coins is the left-profile bust of President George Washington. The first President of the United States of America, Washington was born in the colonies in 1732 and to honor his 200th birthday in 1932, Congress authorized a bust of his likeness to appear on the circulation quarter. It remains there to this day and now features on the ATB bullion coins as well. It was designed in 1932 by John Flanagan and was modernized for this series.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2019 Colorized ATB War in the Pacific National Historical Park 5 oz Silver Coins is the scene as American GIs storm the beaches of Guam to retake the island from the Japanese Imperial forces. In 1941, the Japanese had taken control of Guam. By the summer of 1944, American Marines and US Naval forces had island-hopped their way back to the South Pacific and were ready to storm the island to retake Guam.
History
The Second Battle of Guam took place in July and August 1944. US Marines and US Naval forces assaulted the island and engaged in yet another series of brutal jungle battles to clear the island of Japanese forces. Famously, one Japanese soldier remained a holdout on the island until 1972 when he was discovered living in a remote jungle position near a waterfall.
