{{/presale}}The British Oriental Border Britannia series from the Royal Mint of England revives the beauty of the nations trade dollar from the 19th century. Issued for use in trade and commerce in British Far East colonies and with nations like China, the British Trade Dollar featured the same elements found on these modern coins. Provident Metals now offers the 2019 British Oriental Border Britannia 1 oz Silver Coin for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase the 2019 British Oriental Border Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins in this listing, each one you receive is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins all ship inside of individual protective plastic capsules whether you purchase one or multiples.
Obverse
The obverse side of all British Oriental Border Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins comes with the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 2015 by Jody Clark, this right-profile bust of the Queen is the fifth-generation portrait of Her Majesty to feature on British coinage. In this design, the Queen is depicted at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown, a crown worn for the State Opening of Parliament.
Reverse
On the reverse face of 2019 British Oriental Border Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the powerful image of Britannia. The female personification of Britain, she is depicted wearing a Corinthian helmet, wielding a trident in her right hand and clutching a shield with the Union Jack on it in her left hand. The border of the coin field has an oriental border inspired by the same designs of the British Trade Dollar.
History
The British Trade Dollar was designed and issued by Royal Mint facilities in India and the Far East following British victories in the First and Second Opium Wars. Those victories gave the British leverage to force open ports across China to outside trade. As foreign nations flooded in to trade at the now-opened ports, each one began to issue their own silver trade dollars to avoid having to convert various national currencies at the time of transaction.
