{{/presale}}The Austrian Mint first introduced the Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coin Series in 1989. At the time, only a 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold coin were available. Now, you can purchase Austrian Philharmonic Coins in a variety of different sizes. Today, you can purchase the 1/4 oz version from Provident Medals in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition.
Highlights:
When the Austrian Philharmonic Gold Coins were originally released, there were only 1 oz and 1/4 oz coins available from the Austrian Mint. In 1991, the 1/10 oz coins was introduced; 1994 saw the introduction of the 1/2 oz coin. Today, the 1/4 oz coin is one of five gold options for Austrian Philharmonic Coins.
Each of the coins in this listing are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition in protective plastic packaging. Mint tubes are also available.
Obverse
The obverse of all 2019 Austrian Philharmonic 1/4 oz Gold Coins displays the image of the Great Organ that can be found inside the Musikverein Golden Concert Hall in Vienna. The Austrian philharmonic orchestra performs at the Musikverein on a regular basis. The concert hall is located in the neighborhood of Innere Stadt.
Reverse
The reverse side of each of these coins features the image of a variety of instruments commonly played by orchestra members. You will notice the image contains a cello, harp, bassoon, flute, horn, and violins. There are engravings on both sides of the coins in German, which is the official language of Austria.
History
The Austrian Mint is one of the oldest operating minting facilities in Europe. It was founded in 1194 with silver paid to Duke Leopold V by Richard the Lionheart of England. Today, the mint strikes the Austrian Philharmonic coins that we all know and love as well as circulation euros for Austria.
