The coins in this release are limited to 50,000 in total and come with a Year of the Pig privy on the reverse field. The obverse design is special in this release as it marks the first appearance of the new sixth-generation effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse side of 2019 Australian Kookaburra Pig Privy Silver Coins. The design featured here was created in 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint of England to use as its fifth-generation effigy. The portrait arrived on Australian coins for the first time in 2018. The new sixth-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, this design captures the Queen at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The inscriptions on this face include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 1 DOLLAR.
Reverse
A kookaburra is featured in the reverse design of the 2019 Australian Kookaburra Pig Privy 1 oz Silver Coin. This new design for 2019 shows a small kookaburra perched on a log that emerges from a small body of water. The design includes the sun setting on the horizon as its rays of light ripple across the water. There is a circular privy mark behind the head of the kookaburra with the image of a pig. Inscriptions here read AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, 2019 1 OZ. 9999 SILVER, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.
History
The Year of the Pig is the final of 12 years in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese lunar calendar. The Zodiac came to a conclusion in 2019 with the Year of the Pig and restarted in 2020 with the Year of the Mouse.
