{{/presale}}The summer of 1969 saw NASA achieve what is arguably the greatest feat in its history. While mankind has been to the Moon and back several other times since, July 1969 marked the culmination of a decade of work as the Apollo 11 crew lifted off from Merritt Island, Florida, with Moon-or-bust as its goal. Provident Metals currently offers 2019 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 2 oz Silver Coins for you to purchase online.

Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2019 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Silver Coins is a replication of the lunar surface in intricate detail. The dusty lunar surface is pockmarked by countless craters, each one captured in stunning detail in this ultra-high-relief visuals. This side of the coin is domed outward to fully capture the beautiful 3D appearance of the Moon. The American flag features at the center of the design, with the NASA and Apollo 11 logos included. The primary focal point the eye catches is the astronaut footprint plated in gold on this side.
History
Apollo 11 was the first successful space mission to not only put human beings on the surface of another celestial body but also return them safely to Earth. Ascension Island is the nation of issue for this release because of the role it played in NASA programs through the 1960s. Devils Ashpit on the eastern side of the island was chosen as an ideal site to construct a NASA tracking station. After providing support to Surveyor missions starting in 1965, as well as later deep-space missions, Devils Ashpit helped track Apollo 11 on its trek from Earth to the Moon.
