{{/presale}}In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon in July 1969, the United States Mint issued gold and silver bullion commemorative coins in the summer and fall of 2019. The designs honored the mission to the Moon and became one of just a handful of American bullion commemorative coins with concave and convex coin fields. Right now, you can buy 2019 $1 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Silver Coins online at Provident Metals in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2019 $1 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Silver Coin available in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is in near-perfect condition. Coins with this grade exhibit full, original mint luster and have no more than two minor flaws within the design field. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines outside the primary focal points of the coins.
Provident Metals selects all coins at random after your payment clears. We cannot guarantee the label design or specific grading house in advance. If you buy several, you may get coins with matching label designs and grading house designations.
Obverse
For the obverse design of 2019 $1 Proof Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Silver Coins, the US Mint features an image of an astronaut boot print in the surface of the moon. The textured, concave surface gives the impression that boot print is stamped into the Moon itself. Inscriptions include MERCURY, GEMINI, APOLLO, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2019, and LIBERTY.
Reverse
In the reverse design field of the 2019 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Silver Coin, you will find the image of Neil Armstrong standing near the Eagle lunar lander and the American flag. You can see the silhouette of Buzz Aldrin, whose visor reflects all of these images. The domed surface on this side enhances the sense of the field serving as Aldrins helmet. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
History
Apollo 11 was Americas winning shot in the Space Race against the Soviet Union. Responding to the challenge President John F. Kennedy issued earlier in the 1960s, the Apollo 11 mission successfully sent American astronauts to the Moon and safely returned them home.
