{{/presale}}The Apollo 11 program from NASA had one goal in mind: put humans on the moon and bring them back safely. This was the crowning achievement of a decade-long pursuit to fulfill the goal set before the country by President John F. Kennedy. Apollo 11 is among the greatest achievements in American history and ended the Space Race with the Soviet Union. Right now, you can buy the 2019 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 1 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals in perfect condition.
Highlights:
If you purchase the 2019 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary $1 Silver Coin in this listing, the coin you receive comes with a protective plastic slab and a perfect certification. Coins with a PR70 grade exhibit full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws of any kind in the design elements or on the surface areas.
Even better, these coins have the First Day of Issue label included in the slab. This indicates the coins were received by the PCGS for grading within the first 24 hours of the initial release by the US Mint. To qualify, the coins must arrive in sealed box from the mint within the designated timeframe.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2019 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary $1 Silver coins is the image of an astronaut footprint. Just like the ones left by Aldrin and Armstrong on the moon, the footprint has the rounded edges of their spacesuit boots and is sunken into the concave surface of this coin, adding greater visual impact.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2019 Proof American Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Silver Coin includes a replication of the photograph taken on the lunar surface by Buzz Aldrin. This convex side of the coin is domed and framed by the helmet of Aldrin, with his visor acting as the design field of the coin. In his visor, you see the reflection of Armstrong, the Eagle lunar lander, and the American flag on the lunar surface just as captured in Aldrins original photo.
History
Apollo 11 was an eight-day mission that took off from Merritt Island, Florida, and sent the crew to an orbit around the moon four days later. Armstrong and Aldrin would descend to the lunar surface and spend a total of 21.5 hours there before rejoining Michael Collins for the return flight to Earth. The group touched down in the South Pacific on July 24, 1969.
