The movie, set in the not-too-distant dystopian-inspired future, shows humanity spending most of their time in the virtual space known as Oasis. Unlikely hero Parzival sets out to solve a puzzle designed by the creator of the Oasis, making new friends and a fair few enemies along the way. Ready Player One came to life as the debut novel by Ernest Cline, an American author. The book depicts a dystopian world where society has all but given up on the real world. Genius programmer James Halliday develops a virtual world he names Oasis. Here, people can break free from their day-to-day lives and live the life that they want.
The Ready Player One Series produced by the Perth Mint pays tribute to some of the main characters from the novel and movie. Parzival is the first character released in the series, with Art3mis being the second design release. Obverse
The obverse design of the 2018 Tuvalu Ready Player One Parzival 1 oz Silver Coin features the right-profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This fourth-generation portrait was created by famed sculpture Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. Her Majestys name, the face value, date of release, weight and metal content are also featured on the obverse of the coin.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2018 Tuvalu Ready Player One Parzival 1 oz Silver Coin features a colorized image of Parzival, the avatar created by Wade Watts within the virtual space known as Oasis. Parzival is shown wielding a gun as he fights off the gunters inside of Oasis. Parzival and her love interest Art3mis are two of the primary protagonists from the bestselling book and the blockbuster movie.
The coins in the Marvel Series are released by the island nation of Tuvalu. They are produced by Australias Perth Mint, which has a history of producing highly collectible silver coins and themed series.
