{{/presale}}Chiwoo Cheonwang is the famed God of War from Korean mythology, though he is based on a real figure from Ancient Chinese history. Chiwoo Cheonwang has been the face of a silver and gold bullion medal series from KOMSCO since 2016. The 2018 release featured unique assay card labels for the 1/10 oz gold medals. Provident Metals offers you the opportunity to purchase 2018 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang 1/10 oz Gold Medals with the black assay label.
Highlights:
KOMSCOs Chiwoo Cheonwang Series is available with progressive designs that follow the God of War through his preparation for battle and his eventual victory. For example, the first design in the series showed him preparing for battle by donning his full suit of armor. In this third design in 2018, Chiwoo rides into battle ready to take down his enemies with a swing of his sword.
Obverse
The obverse face of all 2018 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang 1/10 oz Gold Medals comes with the common image in the series of Do ggae bi. This hobgoblin-like figure has a grotesque appearance and is said to have the power to ward off evil with his mere appearance. Koreans once hung his image from the roofing tiles of their homes to protect the home against evil spirits. Chiwoo Cheonwang used his face on his battle shield to strike fear in his opponents.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2018 South Korean Chiwoo Cheonwang Medals is the image of Chiwoo as he rides into battle on his warhorse. Chiwoo lowers his sword in this design to cut down his enemies as he plows through the battlefield with his horse.
History
The Chiwoo Cheonwang Series is produced by KOMSCO, also known as the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation. KOMSCO is a government-owned corporation responsible for printing and coining currency for South Korea. The series offers 1 oz silver and 1 oz gold bullion as the primary options, with 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz gold available regionally and 1/10 oz gold available globally.
