Obverse
On the obverse of 2018 Wood Bison Privy Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Reverse Proof Coin is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This depiction of Her Majesty was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt and is the fourth-generation effigy of the Queen for Canadian coins. The image was designed to showcase the Queen without a crown on her head, a first on Canadian coins since the reign of King George VI. Inscriptions on this field of the coin include Elizabeth II above the bust and 5 Dollars 2018 below.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 2018 Wood Bison Privy Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin includes the iconic sugar maple leaf design. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, this design has been in use on Canadian Maple Leaf bullion coins since the introduction of the gold bullion coin in 1979. It is accompanied on this side of the coin with a wood bisons head as a privy mark to the lower left of the sugar maple leaf. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read Canada, 9999, and Fine Silver 1 oz Argent Pur.
History
The Wild Canada Series celebrates the original animal designs from the Canadian Wildlife Series. Issued from 2011 to 2013, the six-coin Canadian Wildlife Series was immensely popular with investors and collectors with its unique animal designs on the reverse and Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The Wild Canada Series repeated each of the designs in the same order using only a privy mark on the Canadian Maple Leaf Silver coin.
